Mike Miner has been practicing law since 1986.  He graduated in the top 10% of his class from the University of Colorado School of Law, where he was selected for membership in the “Order of the Coif,” a national law school honorary scholastic society, served as an editor of the University of Colorado Law Review and published an article on punitive damages in the Law Review.

Upon graduation from law school, Mike worked for the Denver office of a national law firm, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, practicing commercial litigation.  In 1990, he joined the Boulder law firm of Hutchinson Black and Cook, LLC, where he was a partner until 2001, when he left to open his own law office.

Mike is “AV” rated in Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest rating available by the national directory of lawyers.  He was named as one of US News and World Report’s “Best Lawyers in America” for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2022.  Mike has been active in the Boulder County Bar Association for the past 25 years, including being named “Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year” in 1993 and receiving the “John Robert Marshall” award for pro bono service in the same year.  He is also a member of the American Bar Association (“ABA”), the Colorado Bar Association (“CBA”) and the Family Law Sections of the ABA, the CBA and the Boulder County Bar Association.

Mike’s practice has been limited to family law and divorce for more than 20 years, making him one of the most experienced family lawyers in Boulder County.  His clients include business executives, physicians, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and their spouses.  Mike’s background in commercial litigation and trial practice, together with his many years of experience, make him a strong advocate for his clients in cases that often involve complex legal and business issues.  In addition to complicated and high-asset financial cases, Mike has extensive experience in child custody, child support and maintenance (alimony) cases.
